Waypoints, tracks and routes are stored in a .gpx file that are downloadable in order to import the placemarks into chartplotters, OpenCPN, SASPlanet or Google Maps.

How to import marks into OpenCPN ?

  1. Click on a .gpx file in order to download placemarks into your computer.
  2. In OpenCPN toolbar, click on the [Route & Mark Manager] tool.
  3. Clic on [Import GPX...] button.
  4. Select the .gpx file that you have saved into the Downloads folder then click on [Open] button.
Marks imported by this method are added existing marks in OpenCPN. See hereafter to import in a separated layer.

How to import marks into a OpenCPN layer ?

  1. Click on a .gpx file in order to download placemarks into your computer.
  2. Check that OpenCPN data folder does include a sub-folder named Layers. On Windows full path is C:\ProgramData\opencpn\Layers. If sub-folder Layers does not exist, create a Layers sub-folder in C:\ProgramData\opencpn .
  3. Copy the .gpx file that you have saved from the Downloads folder to the Layers sub-folder.
  4. Restart OpenCPN.
When importing points and routes from a .gpx file into a layer, the imported marks can be enabled / disabled independantly from others marks.


How to export placemarks from OpenCPN ?

  1. Click on [Route & Mark Manager] tool in OpenCPN. 
  2. Choose [Tracks], [Routes] or [Waypoints].
  3. Select items to export. Holding down [Ctrl] while you clic to add an item to the selection.
  4. Click on the [Export selected] button.
  5. Name the .gpx file then [Save].
